  Ten years ago, the country's largest locally owned energy company was calling for the Emissions Trading Scheme to be put on hold and replaced with a carbon tax in the interim.
Global energy-related carbon emissions rose to a record high last year as energy demand and coal use increased, mainly in Asia, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Tuesday.
Energy-related CO2 output shot up in 2018 to hit a second consecutive yearly high as Asian coal growth and the US oil and gas boom overshadowed global progress in renewable energy and energy efficiency, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a report released Tuesday.
